The Cable Guy is way over the top, and yet he is so human. This film is best thought of as an absurd tragicomedy. I think it was probably a victim of Jim Carrey's earlier, broader work, and was perhaps unwelcome in the context of his career. This film is horribly underrated, so see it, and decide for yourself.
